What You Will Do
As an Associate with Ascension System Office-MO, you will have the opportunity to
In collaboration with the VP HR/Associate Relations COE, leads the Ascension enterprise-wide Associate Relations Center of Expertise (CoE) within the Human Resources Ministry-wide Function. Develops and operationalizes strategy and manages associate relations programs, policies, and procedures across the enterprise. Builds and maintains relationships with leaders across Healthcare Operations, Solutions subsidiaries and Ministry-wide Functions to facilitate the successful management of the responsibilities of the CoE. Collaborates with leadership teams, HR leaders and Legal to develop and implement strategic associate and labor relations initiatives to manage compliance with applicable statutes and the terms and conditions of all collective bargaining agreements.
  • Responsible for leading and managing an effective and efficient Associate Relations CoE
  • Collaborates to develop and implement associate and labor relations strategies consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of Ascension and that enable our Model Community aspirations
  • Partners with Organizational Development and Learning for the development and delivery of leadership programs and training on positive Associate Relations practices
  • Ensures CoE associates provide effective guidance to leadership and Human Resource associates on the administration of collective bargaining agreements
  • Leads the planning, preparation and collective bargaining negotiations
  • Advises leadership on the negotiation and application of collective bargaining agreements, devising and recommending problem solving solutions
  • Advises leadership on represented population associates, associate relations, and performance related issues, problems, discipline
  • Represents Ascension in mediations, arbitrations and related meetings
  • Serves as a liaison and point of contact with labor unions
  • Develops and maintains constructive relationships with labor union representatives while advocating on behalf of Ascension
  • Remains current on labor and employment law developments and health care industry trends
What You Will Need
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10 years' experience in labor relations planning and managing collective bargaining strategies, initiatives and agreements
  • Ability to work in a mission centric faith-based, highly complex and fast paced environment
  • Strong relationship development, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Industry leading experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 15 years' progressively successful experience in labor relations including employee relations responsibilities
  • Experience leading first and successor collective bargaining agreements
  • First chair experience representing management in labor arbitrations
Minimum Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education
  • MBA or Masters in Human Resources or related field
